WATER VALLEY — Yalobusha Medical Clinic is operating at full staffing again, allowing the longtime Water Valley primary care practice to increase the number of patients it sees each day and offer greater access to same-day and next-day appointments.
The locally owned clinic has served Water Valley and surrounding communities since 2012 under the direction of Cinnamon Foster, FNP-BC. The practice provides primary care for women, men and children of all ages, from pediatric patients through older adults.
“We are finally fully staffed again, and that means we have the ability to see more patients, get patients in sooner and accept more new patients,” Foster said. “I am very proud that we are still here taking care of people and that we now have a full staff in place to meet the needs of our patients.”
The clinic’s staff includes Cinnamon Foster, FNP-BC, office receptionist Heidi Helton, and nursing staff members Margaret Eubanks, RN, and Crystal Boedecker, LPN.
Full staffing has increased the clinic’s appointment availability, including walk-in visits, same-day and next-day appointments for acute illnesses and scheduled appointments for wellness and ongoing care.
Yalobusha Medical Clinic provides acute and chronic care, pediatric and geriatric care, women’s health and gynecologic care, family planning, men’s health, well visits, school and sports physicals, and management of conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, headaches and other common medical problems.
Patients are also seen for illnesses and concerns including coughs and colds, strep throat, influenza and urinary tract infections. Services include B12 and testosterone injections and other routine treatments. An in-house laboratory allows many tests to be performed at the clinic as part of a patient’s visit.
Foster said one of the advantages of a community-based primary care practice is the ability to care for multiple generations of the same family and maintain continuity when patients need specialty care.
“We take care of the whole person,” Foster said. “When someone needs a specialist, our care for that patient doesn’t simply end with a referral. We maintain communication with specialists and continue following the patient’s care. That continuity is very important to me.”
Reaching full staffing marks another step forward for a practice that has faced significant challenges during its 14 years in Water Valley. The clinic remained in operation through the COVID-19 pandemic and later dealt with extensive damage to its building in 2024.
Although the building required reconstruction and the office itself was closed for a short period in 2024, Foster said patient care never stopped. Patients continued to receive assistance by telephone and through on-site visits during the disruption, and the clinic subsequently resumed its regular office schedule.
For Foster, the milestone is less about what the clinic has been through and more about what it has been able to provide.
“Over the last 14 years, we have been through changes in the economy, a long and difficult pandemic and physical damage to our practice, but we have continued taking care of our patients,” Foster said. “I love taking care of people, and I am proud that we continue to be here providing competent, comprehensive care to patients from Water Valley and the surrounding communities.”
Yalobusha Medical Clinic accepts patients of all ages and accepts all insurance and payment types, including cash-pay patients. Patients are not turned away based on insurance type.
The clinic is located at 712 S. Main St. in Water Valley and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closing daily from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
