Tillatoba News
By Patcie Deck
The Tillman family reunion was held Sunday, Oct. 25, in the fellowship hall at Tillatoba Baptist Church. It was hosted by my granddaughter, Francesca Garriipoli Holliday, and my great-niece, Maci McClendon Scott.
We had a nice crowd attending, with lots of good food and, of course, plenty of love floating around.
Our attendance wasn’t quite as large as last year, and we certainly missed those who couldn’t make it.
“Hey, neighbor, I’ve got a little news,” said Lila Myrick.
Kirsti and Josh Jones visited Lila on Wednesday evening and brought her a beautiful vase of roses.
Joey and Katelyn McClanahan visited Bobby Joe and other relatives over the weekend. Also, Shannon Manzo got to come home from the hospital in Oxford last Thursday. She is doing better.
Our friend Susan Bell of Caledonia came for the weekend and attended the Tillman family reunion Sunday. We always enjoy Susan when she comes to visit.
Mark Hartley tried his best to find someone in the Tillman family he could claim as kin so he could come and eat.
Mark, you could have come on anyway. I think we all pretty much love you!
Martha Box says these beautiful fall colors are bringing back so many wonderful memories.
“Love is what keeps this ole worn-out Superwoman trying to get it all done,” Martha said.
She enjoyed the message at Willow Springs Assembly of God on Sunday morning.
“Bro. Tommy Darby certainly listens to the Spirit when he preaches! Yes, salvation is a continuous work for us all, and Jesus is the only way,” Martha said.
Tommy and Debbie McCool spent the weekend in Leland visiting Tommy’s sisters and his brother, James McCool. They were getting ready to head home Sunday afternoon after an enjoyable visit.
A huge shout-out and congratulations go to our friend Paul McNamee! Paul is retiring from the Post Office after more than 22 years of service.
The Tillatoba Baptist Church Fall Festival was a great success. I heard through the grapevine that everyone had a wonderful time. As is the yearly tradition, the festival ended with a hayride. I know all the little ones, and the grown-ups, too, look forward to that hayride.
Adam and Jacque Chambers celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary Oct. 22.
“Sixteen years, and bless him for putting up with me,” Jacque said.
On Saturday, they went to Oxford to Just Flip It, a trampoline park that also has rooms for birthday parties. They attended the fifth birthday celebration for Mary Claire Murphy, daughter of John Steele and Kaitlyn Murphey.
Mary Claire turned 5 on Sunday, Oct. 25, but her party was held Saturday.
Jacque said the place is very nice and the staff takes care of everything. All you have to do is show up with your child and a cake.
But the two big kids, Jacque and Malinda Martin, decided to join in the jumping, too!
“I can clarify no bones were broken, and I was able to walk Sunday,” Jacque said. “We had just as much fun as the kids.”
Sunday morning, they enjoyed breakfast at Cracker Barrel with Jacque’s mother-in-law, Jenny Lou Chambers, and Grandma Betty Sue Chambers.
Happy birthday to Beth McClendon Downs and twins Ava and Emma Smith on Oct. 28; Charlie Havens Venable and Johnny Jackson on Oct. 29; Jennifer Ross and Jeff Bailey on Oct. 30; Mark Hartley and Becky Hill Franklin on Oct. 31; Kristen Sturdivant on Nov. 1; and Virginia Beavers on Nov. 2.
I pray you all have a wonderful day!
