Scanlon – Bennett To Wed
  Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Edward Scanlon, Sr. of Water Valley announce the engagement of their daughter, Sandra Scanlon, to Joel Christoper Bennett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Edward Bennett of Oxford.
  The bride-elect is a granddaughter of the late Thomas M. and Martha Jewell Scanlon of Water Valley and the late Hilario and Francisca C. Ortiz of Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Water Valley High School. She is a graduate of Delta State University, where she studied social work. She currently attends the University of Southern Mississippi, where she will receive a Master of Social Work in May. She is employed by the North Mississippi Regional Center as a social worker.
  The prospective groom is a grandson of James Edward and JoAnn Bennett of Oxford, Lenora Wood of Oxford, the late Silas Lee Downs of Abbeville, and the step-grandson of the late Luther Gene Wood of Oxford. Mr. Bennett is a 1997 graduate of Lafayette High School. He is employed by Southern Pipe and Supply Company as an outside sales representative.
  The wedding will take place on Saturday, May nineteenth at four o’clock in the afternoon in First Baptist Church of Abbeville. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Family and friends are invited to attend.
