Law Enforcement Report

Debris was scattered all around the yard at 1208 North Main St. after a southbound car left the road around 1:10 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle struck the steps, ripping off the right rear wheel. WATER VALLEY – Police are trying to reunite a bicycle with its owner after the two-wheeler was found abandoned last week.
Sgt. A. J. Hernandez reports that he discovered the bike while on patrol near the main branch of Mechanics Bank.
Sgt. Hernandez ran the serial number and description and no report of it missing. Anyone with information is urged to call police at 473-2933 or Yalobusha County CrimeStoppers at 1-866-933-TIPS or 473-4935 or send an email to: TIPS@ YalobushaCounty.net.
In other law enforcement activity, police arrested James Jones, 27, of Water Valley and charged him with aggravated domestic assault, kidnapping, credit card fraud, robbery, and malicious mischief.
Jones was arrested Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Exxon Station on Frostland. The series of incidents revolved around a domestic situation with a former girlfriend, according to Hernandez.
He is currently free on a $40,500 bond.
The following additional law enforcement activity was reported within the city limits for the past week:
• Made two arrests for driving under suspension;
• Made an arrest for possession of marijuana and violation of the city ordinance on public consumption;
• Made an arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of the city ordinance, open container;
• Made an arrest for possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine and possession of alcohol by a minor;
• Made an arrest for malicious mischief;
• Made an arrest for disorderly conduct;
• Made an arrest for driving under suspension;
• Took a report of malicious mischief;
• Took a report of drug paraphernalia;
• Took a report of a disturbance;
• Took a report of a simple domestic assault;
• Took a report of a traffic accident;
• Took a report of a petty larceny;
• Took a report of a simple assault;
• Issued 14 traffic citations.

Oakland Police Chief Russ Smith reported his department is investigating a break-in at the post office. The chief said the break-in occurred between Saturday and Monday and was discovered Monday morning when workers arrived at the office.
Entry was gained when the bars were pried off a back window. Smith said $61 in stamps were reported missing.
A postal inspector had visited the scene Monday afternoon, but Smith said the investigation will be handled by his department.

In other police news:
Smith arrested Terri Bright on Friday, Nov-ember 18. She was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling. She was captured by the resident and held until Smith arrived and took her into custody.
She was released on a $5,000 bond.
