Grand Juries Hand Down 71 Indictments

WATER VALLEY – Grand juries in the First and Second Judicial districts returned 71 true bills during separate hearings at each courthouse on June 9. The indictments are sealed until served by law enforcement. The Herald will publish the names of all the defendants after the indictments are served. 

In the Second Judicial District in Water Valley, the grand jury returned 40 true bills including:

• 12 counts for sale of methamphetamine;

• 10 counts for conspiracy to sale of methamphetamine;

• 6 counts for bad checks;

• 3 counts –for aggravated domestic assault;

• 2 counts for simple assault on a police officer;

• 2 counts for taking away a motor vehicle;

• 2 counts for possession of cocaine;

• 1 count for felony malicious mischief;

• 1 count for burglary of a building other than a dwelling; and

• 1 count for uttering forgery.

In the First Judicial District in Coffeeville, the grand jury returned 31 true bills including:

• 6 counts for conspiracy;

• 4 counts for armed robbery;

• 4 counts for bad checks;

• 3 counts for burglary;

• 3 counts for grand larceny;

• 2 counts for possession of methamphetamine, more than 10 grams but less than 30 grams;

• 2 counts for possession of methamphetamine, more than 10 grams, less than two grams, but less than 20 grams;

• 2 counts for sale of methamphetamine, less than two grams;

• 2 counts for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon;

• 1 count count of possession of methamphetamine, less than two grams, with intent to sell;

• 1 count of attempted murder; and

• 1 count of cyberstalking.
