Cooks Needed For Chili Contest
The Rotary Club of Water Valley will hold its annual “chili cook off” on Saturday November 12, 2016, at the Pocket Park (at the corner of Main and Wagner Streets) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This fund-raising activity is held in conjunction with the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce downtown businesses’ open house. Last year the Rotary club had 20 participants in the cook-off and was featured on WTVA news.
Rotarians invite participants from last year and welcome any new-comers who wish to share your culinary talent with the public. To sign up, contact Cinnamon Foster at 473-1140, Phyllis Goodwin at 473-3388, Betsy Person at 473-6506 or Sandra Smith at 473-7558.
Participants can bring their “cooked” chili in a crock pot or a pot with a warming tray between 10:30 and 10:45. Electricity will be available to keep chili warm. The entry fee is $10 and judging will commence at 11 a.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place.
Your chili will be sold either in bowls with cheese, Fritos and a soft drink to be eaten at the park or will be served “to-go.” All proceeds from the sale of the chili will be used to fund the community projects of the Rotary Club.
