Rotary Club of Water Valley To Hold ‘Chili-Cook Off’

The Rotary Club of Water Valley will hold its annual “chili cook off” on Saturday, November 12, at the Pocket Park (at the corner of Main and Wagner Streets) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This fund-raising activity is held in conjunction with the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce downtown businesses’ open house.
Twenty-nine participants have already signed up to compete in the cook off to see whose chili is the “yummiest,” and the competitors include some of last year’s favorites as well as newcomers.
Additional contestants are invited to join the fun. To sign up, contact Cinnamon Foster at 473-1140, Phyllis Goodwin at 473-3388, Betsy Person at 473-6506 or Sandra Smith at 473-7558. Please bring your “cooked” chili in a crock pot or a pot with a warming tray between 10:30 and 10:45. Electricity will be available to keep chili warm. Entry fee is $10.
Judging will commence at 11 and the first place winner will receive $100, second place $50 and third place $25.
Your chili will be sold either in bowls with cheese, Fritos and a soft drink to be eaten at the park or will be served “TO GO”.
All proceeds from the sale of the chili will be used to fund the community projects of the Rotary Club.
