WATER VALLEY – Four  people in the county face drug-related charges from arrests made during the last week according to Sheriff Lance Humphreys.

Alex McGee, age 23, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, improper equipment and failure to dim headlights during a traffic stop on Hwy. 330 near County Road 221 on Jan. 5.

Charlie Johnson, age 62, was arrested the same night during a traffic stop. He was

charged with running a stop sign and possession of drug paraphernalia

Maurice Wooten, age 18, was arrested during a third traffic stop on Robinson Street in Water Valley. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

Humphreys said agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics assisted deputies with surveillance and the traffic stops Thurs-day in a joint operation between the two agencies.

“Narcotics work takes a lot of manpower and I am appreciative of their assistance in our county. We get a lot of tips from the public and we work hard to follow up on each one of them,” Humphreys told the Herald.

The fourth arrest was made Sunday night when deputies stopped Michael Lance Massey on County Road 140 near Hwy. 330. Massey, age 28, was charged with improper equipment and possession of methamphetamine. Humphreys said this was the second time deputies have arrested Massey on drug charges, citing an arrest last year. Massey was out on bond from the earlier arrest.

The sheriff also said Massey is a person of interest in an ongoing investigation involving the theft of a four-wheeler in Union County that was recovered last week at his residence on Hwy. 330.
