Coughlin Speaks About Technology Job Prospects

Kagan Coughlin speaks about technology job prospects in Mississippi at the Silicon South technology conference in Jackson.

Kagan Coughlin spoke about job prospects in Mississippi at the Silicon South technology conference held at Mississippi Public Broadcasting in Jackson on Tuesday, April 11.  Coughlin is the co-founder (with Glen Evans) and Executive Director of the Base Camp Coding Academy in Water Valley.

Coughlin told the audience that Base Camp will graduate 11 students next month, and all 11 have already accepted high-paying jobs with technology companies in Mississippi or Memphis.  The demand for the computer programming skills taught at Base Camp is so high that one large employer tried to hire all 11 students.

“Every student at Base Camp is on a full scholarship for the entire 12 month training program,” explained Coughlin.  “The school is entirely funded by philanthropists and business leaders who want our graduates in their workforce.”
