Class Reunions Coincide With Annual Carnival

The Water Valley High School Class of 1967 will celebrate their 60th reunion on August 5. This reunion marks the oldest formal class gathering during carnival weekend. A multi-class gathering for all classes is also scheduled as part of the numerous reunions during carnival weekend. This photo was taken of the Class of 1957 during their 45th reunion in 2005.  A lot of old friends will be getting together to remember good times during several class get-togethers over the upcoming Watermelon Carnival weekend, Aug. 4 and 5.


The Water Valley High School Class of 1957 will celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation on Saturday, August 5. According to planners, anyone who was ever a part of the class, whether they graduated or not, is invited to join the group at Hometown Pizza starting at 11 a. m.  


The private dining room in the back is reserved for the class. Each member will pay for their meal.


The Class of 1967  will meet for their 50th anniversary reunion Saturday evening, Aug. 5, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Little Professionals Day Care, 521 N. Court St. 


The first hour is set aside for visiting, according to planners. Dinner will be served starting at 7 p.m. Class members are urged to bring old photos, programs, or other items relating to class members and activities.


Holding their 40th anniversary reunion will be the Class of 1977 with two days of activities planned for the Aug 4 and 5 weekend. The first of a pair of family-style events is Friday night, Aug. 4, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the home of Vivian and Ronnie Snyder. Beginning a little later at 7 p.m. is another event at Howell Realty. It will run until midnight. Additional information is posted on Facebook.


On Saturday night, August 5, there will be an adult-only event from 5:30 p.m. til at the home of Debbie and Dalton Rogers. Classmates are asked to make a donation $20 per person.

For those not involved in a more formal reunion. the annual Water Valley High School multi-class gathering will be held Friday night, Aug. 4, beginning at 6 p.m. in the meeting room behind the Little Professionals Day Care at 521 North Court Street.


The event is planned and hosted by a group of former students from the 1960s. But, everyone who attended the Water Valley schools is welcome to attend. The emphasis is on the 1950s through the 1970s. There is plenty of parking and some RV hookups are available. 


The event will include a potluck supper and attendees are urged to bring purchased or homemade food to share. Attendees are also invited to bring photos and memorabilia.


The Water Valley High School classes of 1958 and 1961 will again host their annual joint get-together for class members, their friends, and families.  Graduates are urged to attend between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.  Planners ask that attendees try to be there at noon for photo opportunities.  


As in previous years, this informal reunion will be held in the North Main St. Church of Christ fellowship hall located on the corner of North Main and Wise Streets.  Volunteers to furnish snacks and soft drinks are always appreciated.  Please bring any old photos and memorabilia you would like to share.
