Deadline To Purchase All-Sports Pass Is Aug. 18

The price for All-Sports Passes at Water Valley High School will increase to $200 this year. Athletic Director Brad Embry explained the increase from $75 in previous years is long overdue as admission fees charged for games are the primary source of funding for the athletic programs.

Embry explained that money is not appropriated from the school budget to fund athletic programs and admission fees, fundraisers and money raised by booster club are the source of income for sports programs. The money is used to purchase everything from equipment to uniforms for the teams.

“We survive off gate receipts,” Embry explained. “My idea is to always look to improve, we have to look at everything we can do to make these programs more financially sound.”

With the change, Embry added that in addition to allowing access to the games, the purchase of All-Sports Passes are a great way to help financially support the athletic programs at the school.

The passes can be purchased from Angie Hodge  at the school’s central office on Market Street from 7:30 to 3:30, Monday to Friday through August 18. This year a photo ID will be issued as the pass. The passes allow entry in home contests for football, volleyball, cross country, boys and girls basketball, power lifting, archery, softball and baseball for junior high, high school and junior varsity.
