Former Water Valley High School Football Coach Terry Allen will be the keynote speaker for the annual WVHS Football Banquet this Thursday, February 8, at 6 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  The event is sponsored by C. W. White, Inc. and Mechanics Bank to celebrate the team’s eight victories in keeping with the “Win Eight, Eat Steak” tradition.

With an 8-5 record during the 2017 season, steaks will be grilled by Farm Bureau’s Chuck Upchurch and Donald Gray, with the remainder of the meal prepared by Don Larson’s Cash Saver Food Outlet.  The Blue Devil booster club will provide the decorations and serve the meal.  The football team, coaches and wives, school officials, and the Water Valley cheerleaders are also invited.

Allen’s football coaching career led him from Bruce to Water Valley, where his 1990 WVHS Blue Devils captured a state championship.  He went on to serve as head coach in Philadelphia, New Albany, and Ripley, Mississippi, before his retirement.

Terry and his wife Pat, a former fourth grade teacher at the local elementary school, have recently moved to Birmingham, Ala., to be closer to their two sons and their families.  They are the proud parents of four grandchildren.
