Zediker’s Work Is On Display In Bank Lobby

Although Matthew Zediker is better know in the community as a musician, he also enjoys painting. His work is featured in the lobby at Renasant Bank as the latest work in the rotating exhibit showcasing local talent.

“New Works by Matthew Zediker” is the featured exhibit at the Renasant Bank gallery space in Water Valley. The show opened Monday. Matthew is well known in the community as a musician. He’s half of The Zediker Brothers band, and has four albums and several singles to his credit.

Matthew started painting a few years ago, searching for yet another creative outlet to represent his view of the world.

He loves the landscape and feel of the outdoors in north Mississippi. Mostly, though, Matthew really enjoys painting.

“It’s a great way to spend a day outdoors. Unlike my music, I didn’t set out to paint to attain any particular success, nothing like a career or professional recognition. That’s why I’m really thrilled to have the opportunity to display my work here,” Matthew explained.

Show curator, Pati d’Amico, added “Matthew is a natural painter. He works quickly and intuitively. Whether this is conscious or not, there is a rhythm to his brush strokes. He’s a fine colorist knowing where to accent a line or brush stroke.”

Matthew is 20 years old and in his sophomore year at Ole Miss as a Math Major. The art will be on display for two months.
