10th Annual Art Crawl Is Oct. 6
The 10th Annual Art Crawl will be held October 6 from 5:30 until 9 p.m., with the after party at Bozarts Gallery. Everyone is urged to make plans to come and join the fun. More information on the Art Crawl will be contained in coming issues of the Herald.
Pets Will Be Blessed At Episcopal Church
The Episcopal Church of Nativity, located on Main Street, Water Valley, will have a St. Francis Day of Blessing of Pets October 20, beginning a 10 a.m. Dogs must be on leashes, with cats, hamsters, etc. in carriers, and fish in water.
VFW Schedules Friday Night Bingo
Bingo is scheduled at the VFW Post 4100 on Friday night, September 21. The doors will open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 7. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. There will be no Saturday night dance on September 22.
School Board Plans Noon Meeting
The Water Valley School Board of Trustees will have a school board meeting on Friday, Sept. 21, at noon in the Central Office. The public is invited to attend.
Historical Society Meets Sept. 20
The Yalobusha County Historical Society will meet Thursday, September 20, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters at the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. The speaker will be Grady White, who is an authority on both the Chickasaw and Choctaw Indians during the early times of pioneering and settlement. Refreshments are served afterwards, and visitors are welcome.
Marine Corps League Announces Golf Tournament Fundraiser
The Marine Corps League is holding a golf tournament to raise funds for community service projects. These projects include support for veterans and the Toys for Tots program. The tournament will be held Sept. 29, beginning at 8 a.m., on the Ole Miss golf course. It will be a four-man scramble format. Prizes will be given for first, second, and third place teams, and Closest to the Hole. Lunch will be provided. The cost is $75 per player; two mulligans for $5 each. Gospel Singing Is Sept. 22
There will be a gospel singing on Sept. 22, beginning at 7 p.m., in Clear Springs Baptist Church. The guest group this month will be The Trailsmen Quartet. The church is located at the corner of Gum’s Crossing Road and County Road 186, just outside of Coffeeville. A love offering will be taken and refreshments will be served. POW/MIA Recognition Is Sept. 21
All veterans and their families are invited to attend POW/MIA Recognition Day on September 21, between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. This event will be held at the Depot in Water Valley. There will be a spaghetti plate dinner and a speaker and entertainment coming from Brandon, with a drawing for small gifts. This will be followed by the veterans’ balloon launch.
York Rite Bodies Meet Sept. 27
Water Valley York Rite Bodies will have their next meeting Thursday, September 27, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Commandery. A light meal will be served after the meeting.
Lions Club Meets Sept. 25
Water Valley Lions Club will have its next regular scheduled meeting in the Depot on Tuesday, September 25, beginning with a meal at 6 p.m. Second Vice District Governor, Lion Andy Kalinowski, from the Columbus East Lions Club will be making his official visit. All Lions are urged to attend.
Ag Commissioner Will Visit Water Valley Monday
Andy Gibson, Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, will visit Water Valley Monday, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Room at Mechanics Bank. The public is invited to come by and meet and visit with Gibson.
