Historical Society Will Meet Jan. 17

The Yalobusha County Historical Society will meet Thursday, January 17, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church.  Chris Morgan and Don Sides are the speakers.  Their topic is The Hamblett Hotel and its Family. Refreshments are served afterwards.  Visitors are welcome.

City Departments, Offices Will Close For Holiday

All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Monday, Jan. 21, to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. All garbage routes will run as normally scheduled. 

VFW Schedules Friday Bingo,Saturday Dance Is Canceled

 Events at VFW Post 4100 this weekend include bingo on Friday night, Jan. 18, starting at 7 p.m. The doors open at 5 p.m. There will be no Saturday night dance on Jan. 19. The Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 35, west of Water Valley.

Program On Alzheimer’s And  Dementia Services Offered At Courtland Church

A program on Alzheimer’s and dementia services will be held Saturday, January 26, from 9 a.m. until noon in the Courtland United Methodist Church.  School Board Schedules Board Meeting On Jan. 21

The Water Valley School District Board of Trustees have scheduled a school board meeting on Monday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 in the central office. The public is invited to attend.

Officers Will Be Installed During York Rite Bodies Meeting

 Water Valley York Rite Bodies have scheduled their next meeting for Thursday, Jan. 24, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. This will be an open meeting at which new officers will be installed. Friends and family are invited to join members of York Rite for a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. Members are requested to be in full uniform with chapeau, but without sword and belt. The meeting will be in the Commandery.

4-H Shooting Sports Club Will Host Interest Meeting On Jan. 26

The Yalobusha County 4-H Shooting Sports Club will host their interest meeting at the Multi-purpose in Coffeeville on Saturday January 26th at 10:00 am.  The interest meeting is for all prospective shooting sports participants just informing kids and parents about the club, schedule, and events.  Shooting Sports is a 4-H Safety program that is designed to promote youth development through the safe use of firearms.  The disciplines that we offer are air pistol, air rifle, archery, .22 pistol, .22 rifle, and shotgun.  The program is for kids 8-18 and will be explained in detail on the 26th.
