Jones Will Share History Of County’s Sheriffs At YHS Meeting

The Yalobusha County Historical Society will meet Thursday, February 21, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church.  The speaker is Andy Jones and his topic is “Departed Yalobusha County Sheriffs.”  Refreshments will be served afterwards.  and visitors are welcome.

Weekend Events At The VFW Include Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance

Events at VFW Post 4100 for the weekend will begin with Bingo on Friday night, February 22. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the games begin at 7. Providing music for the Saturday Night Dance, February 23, will be the Bobby Hood Band. The music begins at 8 p.m. and concludes at midnight. Post 4100 is located at 11335 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.

Extension Service Will Host Private Applicators Training

The Mississippi State Extension Service will host a private applicator’s training at the Multi-purpose building in Coffeeville on February 25th at 1 p.m.  The cost for this class is $20.  Please call the Extension Office at 662-675-2730 to reserve your seat. 

English Department Sponsors  African American Read-in

The Water Valley High School English Department is sponsoring the National African American Read-In – an evening celebrating and reading the works of African American poets and writers.  It will be held on Feb. 26 at Bozarts Gallery from 6-8 p.m.  All students (and their parents), staff and faculty from Water Valley School District, and community members are invited to participate.  Call WVHS at 662.473.2468 to sign-up to read.
