Louisiana Men Charged With Home Burglary

BOAT LANDING –A trail of muddy footprints led to the arrest of two Louisiana men within hours of a home burglary in the Boat Landing Community on October 5. Sheriff Jerimaine Gooch reported Samuel Tullos, age 46, and Joseph Foy, 32, were each charged with grand larceny, burglary and receiving stolen property after allegedly stealing numerous items from a house on County Road 53.
The suspects allegedly kicked in the back door and absconded with guns, televisions, a laptop computer, a vacuum cleaner and other miscellaneous items. Gooch said the break-in was reported at approximately 5 p.m. and the suspects were in custody by nine that night.
“The muddy footprints led to a house across the road,” the sheriff explained. Some of the items were recovered at the house and deputies are still working to track down the guns.
Both men had prior felony convictions.
Other arrests reported by the sheriff include:
• Three inmates were charged with aggravated assault in two separate incidents in the Yalobusha County Detention Center. Bobby Pope was charged in one incident and Christopher Meadows and Kaeleb Garrett were each charged in the second incident.
Gooch reported charges will be pursued to the fullest extent.
“We will not tolerate any violence inside the jail,” the sheriff explained.
• Jonathon Winter, 36, was arrested on October 5 for commercial burglary and petty larceny from a break-in at Clear Springs Volunteer Fire Department in March, 2020. A chainsaw, jumper cables and Gatorade were reported missing from the department.
Chief Deputy Thomas West reported the investigation was reopened after new information surfaced about the crime.
The chainsaw was recovered and returned to the department.
• Vivian Cook, 47, faces felony charges after striking a deputy’s cruiser while fleeing from authorities. Cook was charged with felony fleeing, aggravated assault on an officer and DUI after she was apprehended in a pursuit that ended in Lafayette County on September 30.
• Sonya Vernon, 40, was arrested on August 28 for possession of methamphetamine. The sheriff reported the arrest was made during a driver’s license checkpoint.
• Ethan Longest, 23, was arrested on August 29 for DUI, open container and marijuana in a motor vehicle. The arrest was made at a checkpoint on County Road 147.
• Stacy Bovee, 33, and Cody Britt, 34, were arrested on August 31 at a checkpoint on County Road 38. Bovee was charged with possession methamphetamine, Britt was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
• Amanda Pruett, 38, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine on August 31. The arrest was made at a checkpoint on Hwy. 330.
• Melissa Spurgeon, 42, and Timothy Dowdle, 46 were each charged with possession of methamphetamine. The arrest was made on Sept. 2 during a checkpoint on Hwy. 51.
• John Brandon, 44, and Kayla Helm, 35, were each charged with possession of methamphetamine on Sept. 5. The arrests were made during a traffic stop at the intersection of Hwy 7. and County Road 71.
• Johnno Jenkins, 33, was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center on a bench warrant.
• Eric Hervey, 46, was arrested for DUI other during a traffic stop on Sept. 13. Deputies were responding to a complaint involving Hervey when he was taken into custody.
• Tina Archer, 30, was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center on a bench warrant.
• Jerryco Green, 37, was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center on Sept. 15 on a bench warrant.
• Clardis Galloway, 47, was arrested on Sept. 17 for possession of methamphetamine. He was also booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center on a bench warrant.
• David Ray, 46, was arrested on Sept. 18 for possession of methamphetamine. The arrest came during a traffic stop at the intersection of Hwy. 51 and County Road 36.
• Jennifer Costilow, 32, was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center on Sept. 23 for an outstanding warrant for forgery.
• Joey Perkins, 46, was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center on Sept. 30 on a bench warrant.
• Marlo Renix, 36, was arrested on October 1 for trespassing and resisting arrest. Deputies made the arrest after responding to a complaint on Hwy. 51 in Oakland.
• Travis Vollbracht, 43, was arrested on October 2 for possession of methamphetamine at his residence on County Road 212. Deputies made the arrest after responding to complaint that Vollbracht discharged a firearm during a disturbance.
• Demarcus Williams, 29, and Justin Harris, 36, were each charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. The arrests were made during a traffic stop on Hwy. 7 near Coffeeville.
• Rachel Lewis, 38, was arrested on October 3 for possession of methamphetamine. The arrest came at a checkpoint on County Road 147.
• Nathan Denley, 29, was arrested on October 3 for possession of methamphetamine. The arrest came during a checkpoint at the intersection of Hwy. 330 and County Road 221.
• Robert Bowden, 57, was arrested on October 3 for possession of methamphetamine.
• Hunter Green, 25, was arrested on October 7 for failure to stop. Green ran a stop sign on his dirt bike as he crossed Hwy. 7 in front of a deputy. He was apprehended a short time later.
• Eddie Sargent, 51, was arrested the night of October 8 for DUI. The arrest came after deputies were dispatched to apprehend vehicle that was traveling north in the southbound lane on I-55 at 9:31 p.m. Sargent was stopped at the Oakland exit.
• Richard Robertson, 40, was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center for a bench warrant.
• Mary McCluskey, 39, was arrested on October 9 for possession of methamphetamine. The sheriff reported McCluskey was apprehended by deputies while assisting the Water Valley Police Department following a theft at South Main Boutique.
• Jason Nelson, 41, and Tina Cramer, 43, were each charged with possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop in the Boat Landing area on October 12.
• Angela Kelley, 49, was arrested for domestic violence on October 13.
