Mt. Liberty News
I hope everyone has had a great week so far. It’s been pretty busy at Mt Liberty. Saturday was the annual cemetery day and we had a great turnout. We would like to thank everyone that came and helped and those that provided a dish. The cemetery fund is used to maintain the cemetery grounds up and is donor-based and we want to thank everyone who is led to donate to it. We have beautiful cemetery grounds made possible with these donations.
Sunday was a great day. Garrett Coffey and Bryce Bing made a profession of faith and were baptized. It is always a wonderful day in the Lord’s house when someone makes the most important decision of their life – to dedicate their life to God.
Bro. Grant brought the message to us from Acts 19:13-17. In our text we see traveling Jews trying to exorcise an evil spirit. They commanded it by calling on the Jesus that Paul preached about. The evil spirit in turn said he knows Jesus and he knows Paul, but not them. They could not command the evil spirit because they did not know Jesus. They knew of him. They didn’t know Jesus died for their sins. When you die, all that matters is that you know Jesus. You must have a personal relationship with him. There is only one way this life ends well, and that’s knowing Jesus Christ, not just knowing of him. These men were not saved and baptized; they had not received the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells us once we are saved, we are given the power of the Holy Spirit. This power comes after we are saved and baptized. Then, and only then, do we get the power to speak in the name of Jesus. We can call on Jesus to heal the sick and protect our homes.
Do you know Jesus?
Or do you just know of him?
Do you seek a relationship with him?
On Monday, the services were held for Kenny Potts. He was the oldest son of Mrs. Lavelle Potts. We hosted a reception after the burial. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. Thank you to everyone who brought food and helped with this.
Next Sunday night, May 26, at 6 p.m., we will have our monthly music night. We invite you all to join us. Bring a song to sing or just come listen and fellowship with us. We always have a great time. If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us. Services begin at 11 every Sunday morning.
