Benny Walker said it best when talking about the humming birds. They come in droves and then they’re gone and another flock shows up. All you folks down south, here they come!

Homecoming at Tillatoba Baptist Church will be Sunday, September 22. Service will be at 11 a.m. with a potluck meal to follow. Bro. Rick Glidewell is the speaker and Dusty McKibben will lead the music.

Debbie McCool said she and Tommy are doing better. They went to church as Tommy was finally off work for a change. They sat in the truck since it was raining. Their daughter, Kimberly, and Jason Beavers sat around with them Sunday afternoon watching TV and enjoying the rain.

Your writer was up all night Saturday coughing so I slept most of the day Sunday. My daughter, Donna, decided to stay home and come one day this week. I missed our Sunday afternoon conversations and her help in the house.

Our sweet granddaughter-in-law, Holly Dukes, had a rough week last week. She was in Oxford Hospital with kidney stones and she’s eight months pregnant. They removed one but she is home with a few more. Please add Holly to your prayer list.
Also please pray for JoJo McClanahan, who is back in Oxford hospital. He had a heart cath Monday morning.

Diane Dukes visited Trudy Simmons last Thursday. Trudy gave her some pepper jelly and she reported it is delicious! They visited for a while and enjoyed every minute of it, talking about old times and how this world has changed.

Martha Box reported the memorial service for Jodi Wortham was special, a great gathering of loved ones – family, cousins, etc.

“So enjoyed our Texas and Alabama clan,” Martha added. She said the young ones did a great job prepping and cooking for all. It was so good, she told them all that she was now retired.

“But then I got up and cooked biscuits and tomato gravy for the brothers and families again! Yes we are beginning a diet in the morning. Love is many different memories, and our so large family has dwindled down. But we are still FAMILY!” Martha said.

Our family is dwindling too, Martha, and it’s sad we only get together for funerals.
Happy Birthday to Dolores Scarborough, Kellie Sturdivant Young and Shevy Langham on the 16th; to Joyce Stevens on the 17th; Rebecca McCullar, Kenneth Rowsey and Donald Wayne Bloodworth celebrate the 22nd; and sweet Joy Mullins celebrates the 23rd.
