Christmas is coming, and here in Water Valley, we don’t just deck the halls – we deck the entire town. So, bring the kids, the grandparents, and maybe a reindeer and head downtown on Friday night, December 6 from 6 until 9 p.m. Downtown is throwing a party so big, even the Grinch will feel like joining the Chamber Elf and Frosty to visit the Valley and check out what is going on. That’s right, it’s time for Christmas in the Valley!
This is one of those events that’s fun for the entire family – assuming you’ve had your caffeine and the kids aren’t hopped up on sugar before you leave the house. (Spoiler alert: they will be.)
It’s a time for lights, camera and decorations. Downtown will be lit up like your favorite cousin’s front yard. The storefronts and Railroad Park will be so pretty you’ll feel a little guilty about still having that pumpkin sitting on your porch. Take a stroll, soak up the glow, and try not to trip over your kid’s elf shoes.

Frosty the Snowman and the Chamber Elf will be spreading cheer along Main Street again this year, adding extra sparkle to Christmas in the Valley.
Shop ‘til you drop… or until you need a snack. Local shops will be open late, so you can pick up unique gifts and support our town’s small businesses. And don’t worry about that glazed look your husband gets after 20 minutes of shopping—there’s plenty of food to keep him distracted.
Speaking of food, all of our eateries will be open. It’s the kind of spread that will let you graze our downtown and have your diet waving a white flag. If it’s true that man cannot live by bread alone, he must have been talking about pizza. Swing by The Stitchery for a special pop-up with pizza by the slice so fresh and hot, you’ll swear Santa baked it himself! Eat now, repent in January.
For a little extra holiday magic, hop aboard a horse-drawn carriage ride through the sparkling streets of Water Valley. Whether you’re cozying up with your sweetheart or trying to keep the grandkids from making plans on how to secretly sneak the horse home, it’s an experience you’ll remember (and one your feet will thank you for).
The wonderful ladies from the Town and Country Garden Club will be serving up steaming cups of hot chocolate in the park near the Chamber of Commerce office. It’s the perfect spot to warm your hands, sip some holiday happiness, and chat with friends about whether you have time for just one more carriage ride. The Garden Club knows how to make everyone feel welcome, and their hot chocolate might just be as magical as Santa’s workshop—don’t miss it!
The Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley has been in touch with the big guy himself, and he will be making an appearance for Pictures with Santa at the Magnolia Coffee Co. He’s also ready to hear what everyone wants for Christmas. (Here’s a tip: keep the requests reasonable. Santa cannot fit the horse from the carriage in his sleigh, and he’s fresh out of Taylor Swift tickets, too.)
For those with a sweet tooth (or two or three), the Water Valley Main Street Association’s Cookie Stroll is a holiday treat! As you wander through the shops, you’ll discover an assortment of delicious cookies tucked inside participating businesses. It’s a delightful excuse to explore every store, sample every flavor, and maybe grab an extra cookie or two for the ride home. After all, nothing says Christmas spirit like a little powdered sugar on your sweater!
Togetherness with family and friends is what it’s all about. So the best part of the night is seeing everyone come together and have fun. Sure, your kids might argue over who got more marshmallows in their hot chocolate, but hey, that’s family.
And don’t forget to circle December 13 on your calendar, underline it three times, put it in your phone, and maybe stick a Post-it on the fridge for good measure. That’s the night Water Valley will transform into a Hallmark movie with our annual Christmas Parade! This year’s theme is “Christmas Shows & Movies.”
The parade promises all the holiday classics: kids bundled up like they’re headed to the Arctic, floats that make you go “ooohhhh” and “aaahhhh” and enough Christmas lights to rival Clark Griswold. Even more, it’s your chance to be part of the holiday cheer, Valley style.
