Indictments Served From Latest Grand Jury Include Charges For Knife Assault

WATER VALLEY – A Water Valley man was indicted during the latest grand jury for assault with a deadly weapon and, if convicted, could face life in prison as a habitual offender. Brandon O’Neal Williams was arrested in June following an altercation on Blackmur Drive when he allegedly threw a knife and struck Angela Dorris in the back. Dorris was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford for treatment.
Williams’ indictment was handed down during grand jury deliberations on Sept. 25. He has a lengthy criminal history including convictions for one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling on Nov. 8, 2010; two counts of sale of methamphetamine on Nov. 8, 2010; one count of grand larceny on Dec. 16, 2011; and one count of possession of cocaine on Dec. 2, 2014.
Williams was indicted under the habitual offender statute, Section 97-3-7. According to this statute, if a defendant has been convicted twice previously of any felony or federal crime upon charges separately brought and arising out of separate incidents at different times, and has been sentenced to serve separate terms of one year or more, the defendant shall be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of probation or parole.
The indictments from the Sept. 25 grand jury hearings in the First Judicial District in Coffeeville and the Second Judicial District in Water Valley remain sealed until served by law enforcement officers. Other indictments that have been served and are public record include:
First Judicial District
• Andrew Bradford Jackson was indicted for one count of breaking and entering a building other than a dwelling where goods including equipment were stored for use. The offense occurred on June 23, 2023, and the building is owned by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
• Derick Dejuan Short was indicted for one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. According to the indictment, Short attempted to sell methamphetamine in an amount of more than .1 grams but less than two grams on Sept. 2, 2022.
Second Judicial District
• Clint Matthew Ware was indicted for grand larceny, property valued at more than $1,000 but less than $5,000. According to the indictment, Ware stole property from AT&T on Sept. 13, 2024.
• Jerry Lynn Jones was indicted for one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. According to the indictment, the incident occurred on Sept. 22, 2022, and involved more than .1 grams but less than two grams of methamphetamine. Jones was also indicted for one count of sell of a counterfeit substance, purported to be methamphetamine from an incident that occurred on Sept. 27, 2022.
• Kendarious Deontae Broom was indicted for one count of aggravated assault. According to the indictment, Broom attempted to cause seriously bodily injury to Water Valley Police officer Aquarius Phillips by striking him on the head on June 8, 2022.
• Michael Ellsworth Larson was indicted for one count of receiving stolen property. A
ccording to the indictment, Larson had possession of a 2001 Toyota Camry that was stolen from Jason Morgan.
• Robert S. Anderson was indicted as a habitual offender for one count of felon in possession of a firearm. According to the indictment, Anderson had a Hi Point .45 pistol in his possession on Nov. 19, 2022. Anderson was previously convicted of aggravated assault on May 13, 2011; and sale of cocaine on April 30, 2024.
• Trent Michael Coleman was indicted for one count of DUI 4th or subsequent offense, a felony. According to the indictment, the incident occurred on April 4, 2024. Coleman was previously convicted of DUIs on August 25, 2021; Sept. 8, 2012; June 16, 2007; and June 28, 2003.
• Paula Louise Allbritton was indicted for three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. According to the indictments, the incidents occurred on Sept, 21, 2022; Sept. 28, 2022; and March 10, 2023. All three incidents involved cocaine in the amount of more than .1 grams but less than three grams.
