Mt. Liberty News

I hope everyone had a great week. We’re in that time between Christmas and New Year’s where we don’t know who we are or what day it is.
I decided to get sick, so I’ve been pretty much holed up in the house. My daughter, Emily, left Christmas Day and went to Kansas. She went to Arkansas the day after she got back.

This time of year things are pretty slow in the community. Everyone is traveling and visiting family or has family visiting. Sunday was Communion Sunday and music night at Mt. Liberty. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go because of being sick and I don’t want to spread anything. Rossalan was nice enough to send me sermon notes from Pastor Grant Coffey.

Coffey’s year-end sermon focused on not letting the past determine who you are. He told the congregation that 2024 has changed all of us in some way, and we are not the same people we were in 2023.
Coffey acknowledged that 2024 had its ups and downs for all of us, but what did we learn from it and are we ready for 2025. He shared verses Paul wrote to the church in Philippi.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14

“Our scripture tells us to work towards our goal not to dwell on the past, our goal should be a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Serve the lord and press into him in 2025,” Coffey continued.

I’m so grateful Rossalan takes notes for me when I’m not able to attend, it sure makes things a lot easier for me.

Everyone needs to have a service for the Lord. We all have purpose. I don’t set resolutions or anything like that, but I hope to go into 2025 with more faith and more willingness to serve God. This is a good thing we all could do. Spend your time with God, write a journal of the things God does to bless you, get a devotional. Then, when things seem bad, you can look at your journal and know you’re blessed. I pray you all have a wonderful week and a Happy and safe New Year’s. God bless!
