I pray it’s been a great week for everyone. I’ve been hibernating inside away from the snow and ice. I’m glad it has finally melted. Emily had the flu last week, so we were dealing with that. She had a couple rough days, but all in all she did fine with it. Not much is going on in the community but this is not unusual, January is typically pretty slow after the holidays.
Sunday was a wonderful service at Mt. Liberty. In Sunday school, we’re studying the women of the Bible and it has been very interesting. We start the service with great music. Music tends to usher in the Spirit. Bro. Grant Coffey delivered a great sermon about our hearts. We’ve all received and given the advice to follow our hearts, or that our hearts will tell us what to do. We rely on our hearts to lead us.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 tells us our hearts are wicked and deceive us. Scripture says the heart is deceitful above all things. Our hearts lead us by emotions. It knows our wants, needs, and desires. Following our hearts doesn’t always work out so well for us. Following our hearts is one of the greatest slogans of Satan. It causes more divorces, bad decisions, even wars. We shouldn’t trust our hearts.
As Christians, we should trust our Creator, the true Living God. Psalms 118:8 says it is better to trust in the Lord than to put our confidence in man. We are born in sin. We have a sinful nature. Our hearts will mislead us because it is contrary to God. God has a plan for us and His ways are not our ways. You don’t have to teach a child to lie. It comes natural. Our hearts are born to bend away from God.
Righteousness only come through salvation from the blood of Jesus. Always acknowledge God and He will direct our path.
Sunday night was Nanette’s baptism. We are so very proud of her decision to rededicate her life. We look forward to see what God has planned for her life. I hope you have a wonderful week.
If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us at Mt. Liberty. Service start at 11 a.m. each Sunday.
