Mt. Moriah, NAACP Plan MLK Celebration
The Mt. Moriah District Missionary Baptist Association, in conjunction with the Yalobusha County NAACP chapter and area churches, will present the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Commemoration on Monday, January 20, at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Mt. Moriah District headquarters, located at 3657 CR 211 outside of Coffeeville.
Dr. Jessie Edwards of Coldwater, the Alumni President for Mississippi Industrial College and former mayor of Coldwater, will serve as keynote speaker. Various churches and entities across the county will be in attendance and participate. The congregation with the most members present will receive the traveling trophy.
“We look forward to this event as we do each year,” reported Mt. Moriah District Missionary Baptist Association Moderator Calvin Hawkins.
The Mt. Moriah Association consists of 24 churches located in Yalobusha, Calhoun and Grenada counties.
