Mt. Liberty News

I hope everyone is having a great week. I’m watching the inauguration as I write this. It’s too cold to do much else. The lows in coming days, especially Tuesday night, are just dangerous. Be sure to check on your people to make sure they’re staying warm.

The ladies at Mt. Liberty Church have started meeting on Thursdays for a planning and devotional fellowship. I didn’t get to go to the meeting last week but I look forward to going this week. We always have such a great time.

Bro. Grant Coffey brought a wonderfully uplifting message Sunday morning. I was able to truly connect with it, as I’m sure many of you will. We all go through our lives doing the same day over and over again. Our lives tend to get so mundane. Our Christian lives can get the same way. We get up, go to church, leave for lunch, then back again for evening service.

We sing the songs and do the things expected of us but our walk can get complacent and we can get stale.

1 Peter 2:9-10 tells us we are chosen; called. Not only are we chosen, we have value. We are God’s special creation. God wants to reassure us that we are His chosen people. We came into the light and obtained mercy. Before salvation, we had no identity. Jesus Christ changed the game for us. Acts 16:31 tells us believing in Christ saves us.
John 1:12 tells us receiving Christ gives us power to become children of God. Romans 8:17 tells us we are co-heirs with Christ. We have access to all the goodness of God. We have purpose and we have meaning in Christ Jesus.

Brother Grant’s message really meant a lot to me. There are times I really struggle to get up and go to church. I just want to be home relaxing. Life is so hectic. Hearing these scriptures, knowing that God chose me really made me fill the Spirit move.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week. If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us at Mt. Liberty. We are located at 603 CR 284. Services start at 11 a.m.
