Reynolds Is First To Qualify In Water Valley

Water Valley incumbent Mayor Tommy Reynolds is the first candidate to submit paperwork to qualify to run for office in the city.

WATER VALLEY – Incumbent Mayor Tommy Reynolds is the first candidate in the city to submit qualifying paperwork to run for office. Reynolds turned in his qualifying statement and petition Tuesday morning shortly after City Hall opened.

Candidates have until January 31 to submit the paperwork that includes a petition with a minimum of 50 names of registered voters in the city. Candidates running in a ward must obtain the signatures from voters in that ward. Candidates running for mayor or alderperson at large can obtain signatures from any registered voter in the city limits of Water Valley.

City Clerk Vivian Snider recommends that candidates bring their petitions to city hall as soon as possible. The names on the petition are verified and if there is a problem, additional names can be added if time remains before the deadline. All candidates are running as independents. The general election is scheduled June 3.
