Mt. Liberty News
By Melissa Brooks

I hope it’s been a very good week for everyone. I’m already enjoying the time change. I love this time of year as the temperature warms up and the longer days are back. We don’t have much going on right now at Mt. Liberty Church, but we’re about to pick back up. Easter is right around the corner and we will start planning for that really soon. Jonathan and Angela shared their 17th anniversary this week. We’re very happy for them and wish them many more.

Bro. Grant Coffey brought a great message Sunday. We read Matthew 14:21-33. We tend to stay in our comfort zone. We create a bubble of comfort that we don’t really want to leave. In our Bible, we read about Jesus walking on the water. Peter wanted to go to Jesus. What we really focused on was that Peter walked on water too. The point is that Peter was willing to get out of the boat. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus stayed afloat. The moment he took his eyes off Jesus though, he began to sink.

There were 11 other disciples that were not willing to get out of the boat. We tend to focus on the moment Peter lost faith and not the point that he had the faith to get out of the boat to begin with.
How many of us are willing to get out of the boat? When we’re saved, God calls us to do bigger and better things. He doesn’t call us to sit on a pew. The Bible is full of people willing to step out of their comfort zones and do the work of God. Following Jesus is a leap of faith. If God brings you to a task, have faith that He will see you through it. We need to have the faith to step out of the boat and keep our eyes on Jesus. Let God’s power work in you through His Holy Spirit.

This was such a wonderful message. Here lately I feel God has really been talking to me through these messages. I have needed something out of every message we’ve had. I love when I feel God talking to me. I’m finally starting to feel normal again after so long. Panic disorder is nothing to play with. These messages are really bringing me through it. If you’re looking for a home church where the Holy Spirit is working and you can really feel God, we invite you to join us at 603 County Road 184. Services start at 11.
