WATER VALLEY – Mya Harden was crowned Watermelon Queen during the Junior Auxiliary’s Watermelon Pageant Saturday. Mya is the 18 year-old daughter of John and Tywanda Harden.
Mya is a 2024 graduate of Water Valley High School where she was active in many extra-curricular activities and clubs including the color guard, volleyball, cheer squad, track and field, powerlifting and others. She is a freshman at Northwest Mississippi Community College and majoring in broadcast journalism. After graduating from Northwest in the spring of 2026, Mya plans to attend the University of Mississippi to pursue a career in broadcast journalism.
In her spare time, she enjoys creative writing, fun days on the pickleball court, calligraphy, Sudoku puzzles and crocheting.
“Taking on the crown was such an over-the-top moment for me,” Mya said after the pageant. “I am so thankful to be able to represent the town in such an honorable position. I am excited for the experiences ahead and to truly embrace what it means to be Watermelon Queen!”
