The annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Hartley’s Farm Saturday was a big success. They always have a big turnout and Mark, Faye and Kristie always makes you feel at home.
“It was great” said Faye. We hid over 1,000 eggs. Had hamburgers, hot dogs etc. and a hay ride.
Sadie Harper said they are finally all over the virus. She also said that we are blessed that our little community was saved from the tornado that passed through.
We had a great weekend celebrating Jake’s birthday, reports his mother, Ginger Harrison. Diane Nail Hill made Jake Harrison a great lunch and a fabulous red velvet cake. Jake’s brother, Josh Harrison, and Diane sang in church Sunday morning and did a fantastic job. It was beautiful. They also visited Ginger’s mother, Martha Box, and she is doing very well.
Martha Box is singing, “I Go Out Walking!”
Her foot is healing but she still has to wear a support boot until May 1. She is moving around using a walking stick and reported she can stay up on it for 10 minutes and then rest for about 30 or so minutes.
Martha had foot surgery and the recovery has taken a long time.
She hopes she will be driving next week, but she was happy to get out and do the crazy Walmart thing with her sister, Joyce.
Martha was trying to get to church Sunday but the power was out. She will have everything laid out next week with a kerosene lamp ready in case the lights are out again.
Martha enjoyed a visit from Ginger, Phil and Jake on Sunday. Martha’s great nephew, Wyatt, came by Saturday and mowed her grass and did a fine job!
“Hard working boy growing into a real man!” Martha said about Wyatt.
She said that young man gets his work ethic from his gramps, Jesse Wortham. Jesse has helped Martha for the last three months and even repaired her kitchen drawer !
“Prayers for all that suffered from the storms. Jesus’ love and comfort to all,” says Martha.
Thanks to my daughter, Donna Garripoli, for sweeping my floors and washing up my dinner dishes. I made spaghetti sauce and Donna cooked the spaghetti and rolls. It was so good!
Tommy and Deborah McCool went to Leland Saturday afternoon. They picked up Tommy’s sister, Alice Kellum, and went to visit Tommy’s brother who was in town for the weekend. They all had a good visit. They came home early Sunday morning, Alice came home with them and spent the rest of the day with us before they had to take her home.
Happy birthday to Tara Williams Upchurch, Chase Newman and Liz Brannon Trotter, who celebrate the 10th; Bro Truman Scarborough celebrates on the 12th; and Betty Fly Neal and John Dukes the 13th.
Thought for the day… Some people are like clouds, when they disappear it’s a beautiful day.
