I hope everyone had a great week, things have been good in our little community. Bro. Grant and Leigh Anne Coffey are back from their trip to Texas to see their niece graduate. We sure missed them. We had a great weekend at Bro Grant’s and Leigh Anne’s house. We had a birthday party for little Mila. It was great food and great fellowship. The kids had a blast swimming. It was lots of fun. Ryan Watts had a birthday this past week. We were very happy to celebrate him.
Bro Grant brought us a wonderful message Sunday morning from Matthew 6:24. We pick many things throughout our lives. The majority of us have things such as a favorite pillow. We take it on trips with us and have to sleep with it every night.
Out of all the things we pick as favorites, why are we different when it comes to God? We chose God, but we try to compromise with the world. We love God on Sunday, but worldly things on Monday. “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (v. 24).
You can’t straddle the fence on God. He wants to be our one and only master. He wants us to choose Him over everything else. Anything you put before God will become your master. Jesus tells us we can’t have two.
Romans 6:16 says if you serve the world, it ends in death. If you serve the Lord, it ends in righteousness. Who do you choose to serve? We’re not 99 percent Christians, we’re 100 percent Christians. Do you choose sin as your favorite, or do you choose God? There is no compromise. It’s your choice, but you can only choose one.
I think that’s something we all need to hear and reflect on. The Spirit was really in the church Sunday morning. If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us. Services start at 11.
