Sadie Harper is disappointed in the shot in her knee. It has not helped the pain. She’s using ointment and spray to help manage the discomfort so she can walk.
Sadie’s son and daughter-in-law, Mit and Dea, are in Italy for a weeklong vacation. They met in Sicily 38 years ago and fell in love. They wanted to go back and see the country again.
Sheila O’Bryant is having surgery Friday, July 25, in Tupelo to remove the screw in her middle toe that hasn’t fixed her foot problem.
Michael Marceleno’s grandbabies visited last weekend and again over the July 4th holiday. Michael and Lynn took them to the Safari Park in Como on July 5.
Ginger Harrison and friends—Sherry Carter, Michelle Norwood, and Tympel Harrison—took a little trip to Georgia this weekend! They visited the town of Juliette, GA, and ate at the Whistle Stop Café. Thanks to Tympel for planning everything and to Chelle for driving! Sherry and Ginger say they are the best back-seat riders ever!
They stayed in an Airbnb in Macon, GA, with a pool on a lake and had the best time just being together. They hit every shop in Juliette on Friday afternoon after their fabulous meal. On Saturday, they visited every antique store Chelle and Tympel could find!
They headed back to Alabama to Sherry’s house late Saturday evening for a great meal at her local Mexican restaurant and more relaxing and talking. Everyone went home with Chilton County peaches and a few of Landon Carter’s tomatoes! Ginger said it was a great little break and they can’t wait to be together again!
Deborah McCool says everyone has gone home and they are in for the night. Tommy McCool said he had a great day. After church, they cooked hamburgers, hot dogs, and smoked sausages, with sides of baked beans, slaw, and French fries. “It was good,” said Deborah.
Kimberly, Jason, and Caitlyn Beavers came, and granddaughter Hannah and Dallas Boyett made it too. Dallas was up early working on fencing for someone. He’s also been busy replacing fencing on his own farm. Angela and PJ Dukes had to work at the hospital, and Pat Dukes was working around the house, so they missed out. Christopher McCool didn’t make it because they don’t get out much since his mother-in-law is in poor health and lives with them. They take care of her. His birthday is the 29th.
Everyone ate a lot and then sat outside visiting and talking.
Angela Dukes said Peggy Bailey told her she would love to see some old friends from church. She is currently in the nursing home at Charleston Hospital.
Martha Box said Sunday morning, “It Gets Sweeter As The Day Goes By.” It took a while for this ole gal with a screaming foot, a hollering knee, and two moaning rotator cuffs to get dressed! It took so long that she walked into church just as it started. And yes, it felt as if Dave Box and the girls were singing that song just to her! Wonderful message about the miraculous power of belief in following Jesus.
Later, Diane Hill fed her some fantastic chicken and dumplings when daughter Ginger, Phil, and Josh Harrison stopped by. Then her sweet little five-year-old niece came over to have Nurse Mott tend to a bump on her head. Of course, Martha gave her a healing kiss from Aunt Mott! All of that made it a great Sunday.
(Sounds like to me you’re doing great, Martha!)
Diane Dukes reports that Cossar State Park will host their 1st Annual Motorcycle Show on August 16. Remember, it’s $2 per person at the gatehouse. They’ll also have bingo again on August 20—mark those dates on your calendar!
Last week Faye Hartley, Kristie Hartley, Nathan Hartley and children, Mary Brett, Rowland and Mclendon, Tyler Welch and Jessica McGee went to Destin for a few days.
They had Mclendon 8th birthday there. It was so much fun.
Happy birthday to Sadie Harper on the 26th, Malenda Meacham and Savannah Nobles on the 27th, Kenny Parker the 28th, my sweet husband, David Deck and Chris McCool on the 29th and John Luke Rose celebrates the 31st! May you all have a great day celebrating your special day.
