I hope everyone has had a great week. We had a very exciting Sunday in our community. Bro. Pat Watts was ordained as a deacon. I want to take this week and give a shout-out to Bro. Pat. We are very excited to have him as a leader of our wonderful church. He and Sister Opal are wonderful people and true examples of what Christ can do in a person’s life.

A deacon is someone who has good character, someone who leads by example. He is someone who puts the church above all. Bro. Pat has these characteristics. One of his first acts as a member of our church was to restore the old bell that signifies the beginning of church. It was rung throughout the neighborhood to let folks know when church began, when there was a wedding, or for any gathering at the church. It is a wonderful piece of our history.

Bro. Pat then began greeting everyone as they came through the doors. He started teaching the men’s Sunday school class. He is at every workday. We are so grateful for him and his service.

Mrs. Opal came at a time when we needed a piano player. She has brought in more worship music and is a true friend and sister. We are very pleased to have them and look forward to all God does in their lives.
