Hello and welcome back to another week of Inside The Blue and White! I’m so greatly grateful for you coming back and this week’s News from the halls of Water Valley High School! This week was full with students dressing up and school spirit !
The Lady Blue Devils volleyball had a tough week on the court last week, but we fought hard every step of the way! On Monday, we battled Winona all the way to four sets before coming up just short.
Then on Tuesday, we hit the road to face Myrtle, where we once again gave it our all but fell just shy of a win. Looking ahead, the girls have only one matchup next week; a big home game against East Union! Be sure to come out and cheer on your Lady Blue Devils as they take on some tough competition.

The Water Valley High School band had a great competition Saturday, September 27 in Corinth. The drum major, color guard, and the band earned Superior ratings and percussion received an excellent rating.
The band and color guard also placed third in the 2A division. They will go to Northeast Mississippi Community College for a festival on Saturday, October 4.
We had another big Friday night with homecoming and a big win over Vardaman! The theme for the game was “Rock Star – Rock the Rams,” and fans showed up dressed like rock stars, ready to cheer on the Blue Devils. Students kept the energy high all week with fun dress–up days – Monday was all about hats and shades, Tuesday brought laughs as the seniors showed off their senior citizen looks, juniors dressed as adults, sophomores went as teens, and freshmen threw it back to toddler days. Wednesday was “Hip in the Sip,” and Thursday wrapped things up with everyone repping their favorite style.
On Friday night the Blue Devils hit the road to face Bruce. This one’s going to be a battle—Bruce is sitting at 5-0 and ranked first in the district. It’s going to be an intense matchup you won’t want to miss!
We can’t forget about our beautiful girls! During halftime, the homecoming court walked gracefully across the field, each maid escorted by a family member or friend. The crowd cheered loudly as the girls were recognized for this special tradition. To top off the evening, Joniyah Benson was crowned 2025–2026 Homecoming Queen.
What an incredible weekend for the Water Valley High School Band and Color Guard! The team Attended the Crossroad Classic Festival and Competition. During the ratings portion of the event, the band, color guard, and drum major Jordin Weir all earned superior ratings, while the drum line impressed with an excellent rating. The excitement didn’t stop there—during the competition portion, both the Band and Color Guard proudly brought home 3rd place in the 2A Division and the Red Division! Under the direction of Wes Brown and with the
Color Guard led by Jackie Egdorf, these talented students continue to shine. The Water Valley School District could not be more proud—way to represent WVHS with pride, spirit, and excellence!
Golf had a golf tournament this Tuesday! It was for the girls’ teams and hosted at the Yalobusha Country Club.
