Mt. Liberty News

Another great week has gone by. I’m loving these temps. It has felt so good. We had our annual fish fry Saturday. It was a wonderful time. We had a good turnout. The food was great and the fellowship was greater. We played music and sang while the kids played. It was just a very good time. Thank everyone that cooked and cleaned and organized to make this event possible. Bro. Gary Potts and Sis. Leigh Anne Coffey had birthdays this week. We had a great time celebrating them.

Bro. Grant Coffey brought a wonderful message Sunday morning from John 20:24-29. We’ve all heard so many common phrases. One that we’ve all heard, and even said is, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” We all tend to be a bit cynical. Thomas was one of those that would not believe without seeing. We all know the story of “doubting Thomas.”

He wanted proof that Jesus had resurrected. It was only after he saw Jesus’ wounds did he believe. Jesus said “… blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed (v. 29).” Hebrews 11:1 said faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. What differentiates Christians from all other religions is our faith, our belief, in what we can’t see. Through are faith in the unseen, we are saved from an eternity in hell. We are saved by grace through faith. Where we say I’ll believe it when I see it, God says when you see it you’ll believe it. Blessed are those that believe without seeing.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. We’re preparing now for our all saints fall festival. We will be letting everyone know when and times as we get closer. We hope you all will join us and celebrate those martyred for Christ. We will have a hay ride and games and food. If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us. Services start at 11.
