Congratulations to Adam Chambers and Jacque Dickie on their marriage October 22. May you have many wonderful years to share your love for each other. Congratulations also to Cheyanne Anderson and Legend Croy on their recent marriage. May you have a lifetime of happiness!
Christian love and sympathy go out to the family of Billy Gene Nelson of Oakland. Billy was such a sweet and loving person and will be missed by many.
“Girl, it’s me again,” says Martha Box, the full-time work-without-pay nurse! “But nurses are like bricklayers and truckers—always handy, helpful, and loving every minute of it!”
Martha drove her brother, Jesse Wortham, and sister, Joyce Stevens, to an eye doctor checkup last Thursday.
Afterwards she had a great time shopping with her great-nephew until pickup time. Joyce treated them to a delicious fish lunch at The Corner on Friday.
“Good cooking, good service—even a spectacular cake!” Martha added.
Martha attended a wonderful Pastor Appreciation Day service Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church. “The singing was so special,” she said. “Sitting close to my grandsons, Josh and Jake Harrison, as they sang together was soul-filling—tears flowing and love felt all over.” Even visiting hunters added to the spirit of the day, and the meal that followed, prepared by the church’s good cooks, was “so good!”
After church, Martha stopped by Sheryn Goode’s house to drop off dessert. They enjoyed coffee and catching up, and Sheryn loved daughter Ginger’s cake as much as Martha did.
Debbie McCool said they had a lot of fun at Cossar State Park’s Fall Fest Saturday night. Up the road, neighbors Lila and Garry Myrick are sporting a pretty car. “It’s not new,” Lila said, “but it’s new to us.”
Cossar State Park had a wonderful turnout for the Halloween event. The children had a great time, and it was made possible by the park employees, the Cossar Friends Group, and volunteers. Their monthly bingo is always fun, and Ping Pong Paris keeps it interesting. The next bingo night at Cossar will be November 19.
Your writer used to love playing bingo years ago when it was simple. “I was playing at the VFW in Grenada one night and bingoed. I got so excited I yelled ‘Touchdown!’ The man beside me looked over and said, ‘Honey, you’re playing bingo, not football.’ It embarrassed the daylights out of me!”
Little Joanna Pullen spent Sunday afternoon with her grandmother, Terri Dukes, along with her cousin Haven Rose Dukes. The girls had a great time playing in Terri’s big house.
Happy birthday to Beth McClendon; twins Ava and Emma Smith on the 28th; Charlie Havens Venable and Johnny Jackson on the 29th; Regina Potts and twins Jennifer, Ross, and Jeff Bailey on the 30th; Mark Hartley and Becky Hill Franklin on the 31st; Kristen Sturdivant on November 1; and Virginia Beavers on the 2nd. I pray you all have a wonderful day!
Thought for the day…my back goes out more than I do these days
