Chamber Director Zandra Walker invites everyone to enjoy a full day of holiday fun in downtown Water Valley during the Holiday Open House on Saturday, Nov. 15, featuring local shopping, the Rotary Club’s Chili Cook-Off, and the new Tailgate in the Valley event.
WATER VALLEY – The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than two dozen local businesses will participate, offering special promotions, holiday treats, and door prizes for shoppers. The day will also feature the Rotary Club’s Chili Cook-Off in Pocket Park and the community’s first Tailgate in the Valley event at Shuffield Park.
The Holiday Open House has become a highlight of the season, a day when our community comes together to laugh, shop, and share in the joy of the holidays. It’s more than just a shopping day; it’s a celebration of the people and businesses that make Water Valley special.
Main Street will be buzzing as families stroll from shop to shop, bundled up in scarves and coats, greeting old friends and meeting new ones along the way. Local merchants are going all out this year with beautiful window displays, warm smiles, and plenty of holiday cheer. Whether you’re hunting for the perfect gift or just soaking in the sights and sounds of the season, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Water Valley event without good food and friendly faces. Take a break from shopping and stop by one of our cafés or restaurants for a cup of coffee, a slice of pie, or maybe even a nostalgic milkshake. It’s the kind of simple pleasure that makes our town feel like home.
And if you like things a little spicy, make your way to Pocket Park for the Rotary Club’s Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser. The friendly competition will heat up as local cooks battle for the top prize and bragging rights for the best chili in the Valley. Samples will be available for purchase, and proceeds support the Rotary Club’s local community projects. There’s no better way to warm up a November day than with a bowl of homemade chili shared among friends.
This year also brings something new to the celebration with Tailgate in the Valley at Shuffield Park. Beginning at 10 a.m., folks can set up their tents, fire up the grills, and get ready for college football which will be shown on outdoor screens provided by Victory Event Group. If you don’t feel like grilling, several food trucks will be on site serving up a variety of delicious game-day favorites. Tailgate in the Valley is presented with support from BankFirst and TVIFiber, whose sponsorship helps make this exciting new community event possible.
As you shop throughout the day, don’t forget to sign up for door prizes at participating businesses. Each purchase you make gives you another chance to win, with plenty of prizes donated by our generous Chamber members. Then, at 3 p.m., there will be a drawing for the Grand Prize, a $500 Chamber Gift Certificate that can be used at any Chamber-member business in Water Valley. It’s always one of the most exciting moments of the day.
By the time the day winds down, you’ll leave with more than just shopping bags. You’ll take home memories of laughter shared over chili, friendly greetings along Main Street, and that familiar feeling that there’s no place quite like home for the holidays.
The Chamber of Commerce thanks our local businesses, volunteers, and community partners who make this day possible.
