WATER VALLEY – Water Valley is adding a brand-new tradition to its calendar this fall. On Saturday, November 15, the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will host the first-ever Tailgate in the Valley at Shuffield Park, bringing together football, food, and community spirit as part of the city’s annual Holiday Open House.
The Holiday Open House has long been a favorite tradition for Water Valley, with dozens of local shops offering special promotions, treats, and door prizes throughout the day. Main Street will be alive with holiday cheer as families stroll from store to store, finding the perfect gifts and supporting hometown businesses.
This year, the new tailgating event adds even more excitement to the celebration, giving visitors another reason to stay, shop, and enjoy everything Water Valley has to offer.

The Chamber Elf stopped by The Blue Melon Rendezvous to admire artist Mari Foster’s holiday creations. She’s holding one of Mari’s hand-carved Santas while Mari shows off one of her festive paintings. The elf gives it all two thumbs up for Holiday Open House and Tailgate in the Valley happening this Saturday in Water Valley!
Tailgate in the Valley is made possible through the generous support of BankFirst, TVIfiber, and Sherry and Paul Fisher of Fisher Properties Team of ReMax Legacy, the host for Shuffield Park. Their sponsorship helped transform the idea into reality and ensure the community enjoys a full day of fun and fellowship.
Set-up for tailgating begins at 10 a.m., and everyone is encouraged to bring tents, grills, and lawn chairs to claim their favorite spot. Victory Event Group will provide the giant screen for a full day of football action, featuring several games throughout the afternoon. The highlight of the day will be the Ole Miss vs. Florida matchup, which kicks off at 6 p.m.
To make the most of the day, participants are encouraged to bring all the essentials for a great tailgate experience, including a grill, generator, tent, folding chairs, garbage can, portable fire extinguisher, and battery-powered lights for after sunset.
Local food trucks will be serving game-day favorites, so whether you plan to grill or just come hungry, there will be plenty of good food to go around. Families can spread out, visit with neighbors, and cheer for their favorite team while enjoying the crisp November air.
Chamber organizers say the event reflects the growing enthusiasm for community gatherings that bring people together in new and creative ways. “We wanted to give everyone another reason to celebrate, enjoy being in Water Valley, and make the most of the Holiday Open House,” said Chamber president Curtis Todd.
As the first of what many hope will become an annual tradition, Tailgate in the Valley adds another layer of excitement to a day already filled with local shopping, special promotions, and holiday cheer throughout downtown.
So pack your cooler, grab your lucky jersey, and head to Shuffield Park on November 15. With sunshine in the forecast, football on the big screen, good food nearby, and friendly faces all around, it’s shaping up to be one beautiful and unforgettable Saturday in Water Valley.
