A grand jury in the Second Judicial District in Water Valley handed down indictments on 31 true bills during court Wednesday morning, Dec. 10. Members of the grand jury heard testimony from 38 witnesses. The jurors delivered seven “no bills,” after deciding not to indict on these cases after reviewing evidence presented by the prosecution. The indictments remain sealed until the accused is served by law enforcement.
The list of indictments are:
• Two counts of aggravated assault;
• One count of aggravated domestic violence;
• One count of sexual battery;
• One count of fondling;
• One count of child exploitation;
• One count of malicious mischief;
• Eight counts of possession of methamphetamine (.1 gram to two grams);
• Two counts of false pretense;
• Two counts of receiving stolen property;
• One count of felon in possession of a weapon;
• One count of possession of oxycodine;
• One count of possession of fentanyl;
• Three counts of sale of counterfeit substance;
• One count of sale of cocaine;
• One count of sale of marijuana;
• Two counts of sale of marijuana.
A “no bill” occurs when a grand jury decides not to indict an individual after reviewing evidence presented by the prosecution.
