And I hope this new year brings you joy and happiness. It was the first week back from Christmas break, and the kids at Water Valley High School are getting back and settling down in their classes. Hopefully remembering their classes because I know I didn’t, shoot I thought I had already graduated.

Basketball faced off against the Coffeeville Pirates Tuesday night in a heated rivalry matchup, and Water Valley came out on top. The boys’ team secured a 68–61 victory, while the girls dominated with a 55–27 win. Many Water Valley fans are calling the boys’ victory a true “get-back” game. The final game of 2025 was played against Byhalia, with the boys earning a 60–55 victory and the girls winning 48–28. At press time Tuesday, the Blue Devils were hosting Myrtle, an important district matchup.
