WATER VALLEY – With infrastructure work nearing completion at the W.C. Gardiner Industrial Park, the Yalobusha County Economic Development District is preparing to actively market the newly improved section of the park to prospective manufacturers.
The $1.8 million project, which includes a new access road off Highway 7 and extensive site preparation including a building pad capable of supporting a 300,000-square-foot industrial building, has continued progressing through the winter months.
Yalobusha County Economic Development Director Kagan Coughlin reported that the focus will soon shift from construction to recruitment.
“Work in the W.C. Gardiner Industrial Park is making great progress, and we are working through the paperwork side to keep the reimbursements coming from our seven funding partners on this project,” Coughlin reported. “We are gearing up to market this section of the park, with support from Tennessee Valley Authority and Mississippi Development Authority, who have both made significant contributions to the project and would like to see new manufacturing facilities built there.”
Major funding partners also include the Delta Regional Authority, Appalachian Regional Commission and the State of Mississippi. The City of Water Valley and Yalobusha County each contributed $75,000 in matching funds to help complete the funding package.
Coughlin said additional steps are also underway to enhance visibility for the site, including design work on a new sign that will face Highway 7. The sign will require approval from the Water Valley Board of Aldermen and a permit from MDOT before installation.
