I pray all you school students and faculty have a great and safe spring break.
Scott McLendon attended his granddaughter’s first birthday party. Little Farron McClendon was dressed like a little princess with a flower wreath adorning her beautiful hair.
Martha Box is glad to be up and at ’em a bit better this week.
She enjoyed a good time with granddaughter Marnie Box, shopping and having lunch Thursday. Marnie even washed Martha’s car while she took a break and visited with some long-missed friends. Martha said it was so great to see Glenda and Charles, Shirley, Larry and Jimmy. They had a good time at Spencer’s.
Brother Ronnie from Texas popped in and surprised everyone at lunch Friday at the Corner. Martha says those brothers are always up to something.
There was also a good family gathering Saturday at the Truck Stop with Martha, Joyce Stevens, Ronnie and Jesse Wortham, Ben Box, Ginger and Phil, and Josh Harrison. Their cousin Billy Wayne had everyone laughing and reminiscing.
Martha also made it to church.
“Great service — it must have been planned just for me,” she said. “Every song and every scripture touched my soul. But Jake singing ‘Beulah Land’ had me longing for it.”
After church, everyone enjoyed a great meal and a good time at Martha’s place with the brothers and sisters sharing stories.
And then that sweet Melinda Box popped in with some goodies to help Martha stay fit.
“Love how she spoils me,” said Martha.
Lila Myrick reports that Joey and Katelyn McClanahan and Shelby Dewitt, of Jackson, visited Joey’s dad, Bobby Joe, and other family members this weekend.
Freddie Wayne McClanahan is home after being in the hospital in Oxford. His wife, Jojo, remains in the hospital in Oxford but is doing better.
“Nothing going on,” says Deborah McCool. Tommy has been sick with a head cold and sinus infection. Get well soon, Tommy. Those sinus infections are a killer.
Husband David and I went up the road Sunday and visited our great-grands, Haven, Rose and Waylon Junior Dukes. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside and watched them ride their little Jeeps. I thought they were going too fast, but they were having so much fun. Their cousins Joanna and Andrew pulled up in their ride, and they played all afternoon.
I enjoyed it so much just being outside for a change and seeing how happy they all were.
Celebrating birthdays this week are Wendy Dempsey on the 11th, Addison and Abbigail Newsom on the 12th, and Brian Bowman, Eddie Simmons and J.R. Dukes on the 13th. Praying you all have a wonderful birthday.
We also have an anniversary for Dale and Shannon Dukes on the 15th. Happy anniversary to you two!
Thought of the day:
I learned how to belly dance today! I didn’t have to do too much — I just gave it a little shake and the darn thing started dancing all on its own!
