Pole Inspection Starts Monday In Water Valley
WATER VALLEY — The Water Valley Utilities Commission will begin a comprehensive inspection of every electric pole in the city starting Monday, March 23.
The work will be carried out by contractor PPMC as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the city’s electric infrastructure and improve service reliability.
During the inspection process, crews will perform a series of evaluations on each pole. This includes digging around the base to assess structural integrity, sounding the poles to detect internal weakness and applying treatments where necessary to extend their lifespan.
Poles will also be tagged with identification numbers, and protective guard guides will be installed in areas where additional protection is needed to prevent damage.
The inspection program is expected to take several weeks to complete.
Once finished, the Utilities Commission will have a detailed, system-wide inventory of the condition of all electric poles across the city. That information will be used to develop a prioritized replacement schedule aimed at strengthening the system and improving its ability to withstand severe weather.
“This is another important step in strengthening the provision of service to the people of Water Valley,” Utilities Commission Chairman Brandon Presley said. “By proactively identifying and addressing potential weaknesses in our system, we are working to deliver more reliable and dependable electric service for our customers.”
