My sweet granddaughter came to visit me Sunday to check on me after my fall in Belk’s foyer last Wednesday. I ended up in the ER for X-rays and a CAT scan. I later heard folks talking about a light “earthquake” in Oxford around Belk!
Frankie made me some homemade ice packs and helped with a few chores so I wouldn’t have to. Thank you so much, Frankie!
Congratulations to Madeline Holliday for being inducted into the Grenada High School National Honor Society. What a great accomplishment. We are proud of you, Madeline!
J.R. Dukes has been catching some big fish lately at Ferguson Lake. He is really good when it comes to fishing.
Celebrating birthdays this week are Dana Jackson on the 2nd, Jimmy Rowland on the 3rd, Brent McMillian and Breanna Nobles on the 4th, Bubba Williams and Jake Harrison on the 5th, Lil John Dukes on the 6th and Olivia Jenkins and Rachel Langham on the 7th. I hope you all have a wonderful birthday.
Conner Dukes also celebrated a birthday, turning the big 7. He had a great party at the lake on Sunday. Frankie Holliday celebrated her 36th birthday on March 27 with a big shindig crawfish boil and all the fixin’s. The food was delicious and hot, and a large crowd came out to celebrate. David and I had to miss this one, but she sure is one loved lady.
Your writer’s great-granddaughter, Haven Rose Dukes, placed second in the kindergarten division of the Charleston Arts and Revitalization Effort (CARE) art contest. We are so proud of our sweet girl.
Debbie and Tommy McCool had a weekend free from traveling and stayed home to relax.

Martha Box said she enjoyed a beautiful day with a visit to Pine Grove Baptist Church. She said the music by Josh and Jake Harrison, along with several other men, brought the Spirit into the service. “Josh and his guitar really lifted us up,” she said. Martha added that Bro. Scarborough’s message “lifted me even higher,” and the day was followed by a meal prepared by some mighty fine Southern cooks. “We went in hungry and came out saying, ‘Oh my goodness, what a meal,’” she said.
Sheryn Goode’s daughter Dana and family, along with daughter Linda Shelton and her husband David, came for a visit and placed flowers at the cemetery. Sheryn said it was good to see her grandsons, Devon and Fischer. “You know when they get grown, they have other things to do instead of visiting an old woman,” she said.
Thought For The Day: Sometimes I have to tell myself … it’s just not worth the jail time.
