Hello everyone, and welcome back to your weekly news from inside the halls of Water Valley High School! A couple of exciting things happened this week, and I’m here to tell you all about them, from baseball games to big accomplishments in sports.
We have some great news to celebrate. Congratulations to Drake Mabary on signing with Blue Mountain College for powerlifting. This is a huge accomplishment, and we couldn’t be more proud of him.
“I feel very excited about signing and this opportunity, but also very nervous because I’ve always wanted to do this but never knew if it was possible,” Drake shared. “I’m most excited about being able to do what I love, which is powerlifting, and also grow in my faith with God and as a person through this new experience that I am blessed with.”

Be sure to wish Drake the best of luck as he takes this next step into college and continues his journey in powerlifting.
On Wednesday, WVHS students proudly represented our school at the Special Olympics Area 4 Track and Field Games. The day was made even more exciting with support from athletes from the Ole Miss football and track and field teams, who cheered them on and helped create a truly special experience. They had a great time and enjoyed every moment.
Baseball had a busy week. They faced Myrtle at home for senior night. After giving up too many runs in the opening inning, they battled back but dropped a close game, 12-10. They traveled to Myrtle and came up just short again. On Saturday, they returned home to take on Tupelo Christian Prep, where they fought hard but ultimately fell short. Despite the tough outcomes, the team showed determination and continued to compete at a high level all week.
Softball had a busy week as well, seeing plenty of action on the field. They faced Myrtle twice, both on the road and at home, and battled hard in each matchup but came up just short. The team also took on Lake Cormorant and, despite their effort and determination, fell short in that game as well. Even with the tough results, they continued to compete and give it their all throughout the week.
