Singer and songwriter
Pat Byrne
Austin, Texas-based Irish singer and songwriter Pat Byrne will perform Wednesday, May 20, at Bozart’s Gallery on Main Street in Water Valley as part of his national tour promoting his latest album, “Feeling Indigo.”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Seating is limited and the event is expected to sell out in advance. Tickets are $20 in advance, with any remaining tickets to be sold at the door.
A native of County Carlow, Ireland, Byrne moved to Austin seven years ago after gaining national attention in 2012 as the winner of the first season of “The Voice of Ireland.” The victory led to the release of his debut album “All or Nothing” through Universal Records.
Music publication Ear to the Ground Music compared Byrne’s sound to artists such as David Ramirez, Ryan Adams and Jason Isbell, praising his “gritty vocal and poignant lyrical style.”
Peter Blackstock of the Austin American-Statesman described Byrne’s sound as having “a distinctive Irish stamp,” comparing his work to Glen Hansard and Luka Bloom while also recalling the style of late Austin troubadour Jimmy LaFave.
Organizers described the performance as an intimate evening of music at Bozart’s Gallery.
