New Principal Shares Vision For Davidson Elementary

By Dr. Bonnie Keene
Davidson Elementary School Principal

As I prepare to begin my first year as principal of Davidson Elementary School, I am excited about the opportunities ahead for our students, families, staff and community. My goal is to build upon the strong foundation already in place while focusing on enhancing instruction, increasing student engagement and creating meaningful experiences that help every child grow academically, socially and emotionally. Our motto at DES will be to “Glow as WE Grow.”

This upcoming school year will continue to feature a variety of family and community events designed to celebrate learning and strengthen connections between home and school. We are also investing in the future of our learners by expanding one of our computer labs to offer more hands-on STEM experiences. Thanks to a TVA grant, new playground equipment will soon be installed for our students to enjoy. We are continuing to seek opportunities to improve our campus and plan to apply for a shade structure grant this spring to enhance our outdoor learning and recreation spaces.

I believe strong schools are built through strong partnerships. I encourage local businesses, organizations and community leaders to become involved with Davidson Elementary through volunteering, mentoring, sponsoring events, donating resources or sharing their expertise with our students. I would love to hear ideas from community members about programs, opportunities and services that could enhance the educational experience for our students and strengthen our school community.

Parents, guardians and community members are also invited to join and support the Davidson Elementary PTO. The PTO plays an important role in supporting students, teachers and school activities throughout the year. Whether volunteering at events, assisting with fundraising efforts or helping create memorable experiences for students, PTO members make a significant impact on the school community. The next PTO meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 14 in the DES cafeteria.

I am truly honored to serve the Water Valley community and look forward to working alongside our families, staff, PTO, businesses and community partners. Together, let’s make this a year of growth, achievement and glowing success for all Davidson Elementary students.
