It is hot as pepper puddin’ outside. Please stay hydrated and don’t be out in this heat unless you have to be out and about. I opened my door Monday morning and the heat almost knocked me down.
A longtime, dear friend of mine, Francis Williams, said it was okay to tell the paper he’s here at the swing bed at Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston. Francis will have every patient up dancing and swinging before he leaves.
Frank Weir, your writer’s nephew, had doctor appointments in Jackson and Oxford this last week. Praying that all your test results were negative, Frank.
His wife, Freda, was at kids camp as a chaperone from Monday to Wednesday last week.
After church Sunday, Tommy and Debbie McCool went to Senatobia to visit their son, Christopher, and Samantha. Their grandson Hayden came in before they left. They took Christopher a birthday cake and some steaks for his birthday coming up this Wednesday.
“Tommy and I had a wonderful visit with them,” Debbie said.
It’s been a sad week for the parents, Haley and Ryan Taylor, and the logger community, says Jacque Chambers. Please keep the Taylor family in your prayers.
Martha Box says it’s a little too late to hide out! Wednesday she went to Grenada to drop off some goodies. She ate at the Corner Store, enjoying some of the best grilled chicken livers and onions she had ever eaten! On Thursday Martha’s brother, Jesse, and sister, Joyce, started her birthday celebration with a meal at the Catfish Hut.
“Friday brought out soooooo many Happy Birthdays from some wonderful friends and family! By Saturday evening, with the family singing and celebrating it again, I was beginning to feel fairly old,” Martha said. “Lol. Not! You know I’m young and sticking to it!”
“Woke up thanking our God for yet another opportunity to praise Him. So I did, at Pine Grove Church with more friends and family! Great Word from Bro. Scarborough after the wonderful singing of the choir and grandson Josh Harrison’s solo. Now I must find a way to rest up for next week, right?”
George P. Cossar State Park will have bingo on August 19. Remember, bingo is every third Wednesday of the month.
On September 5, George P. Cossar State Park will host Dancing in the Park. There will be food, vendors, a mechanical bull and something for everyone. Admission is $2 at the gatehouse. There will be a place to donate to Magnolia Mutts. They could really use some help taking care of all the animals.
Organizers sure hope everyone will come out and enjoy our beautiful park.
All the kids will soon start school.
Diane Dukes and Diane Lofton enjoyed a day of shopping in Batesville recently.
Celebrating birthdays this week are Heather Henderson on July 30, John Luke Rose on July 31, Emily Crawford on Aug. 1, Laurie Cordell on Aug. 2 and Jeff Chambers on Aug. 3. I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating your special day!
