Davidson Elementary School is off to a GREAT start! The halls are once again filled with the energy, excitement and enthusiasm of our young scholars, and we could not be more excited about the school year ahead.
This year, Davidson Elementary is proud to welcome 601 students through our doors. From Pre-K through sixth grade, our students are already learning, growing, building relationships and showing us the many ways they can shine.
Davidson Elementary will host Data Night on Sept. 3 to provide an opportunity for families and teachers to connect about student progress. Teachers will be reaching out to families to schedule meetings to discuss each child’s current progress in class, as well as results from beginning-of-the-year diagnostic assessments. These conversations will help families and teachers work together to identify student strengths, areas for growth and goals for the school year.
Davidson Elementary is also excited to announce that we have been awarded the State Invested Pre-K Collaborative Grant, totaling $648,000 over the next three years. This significant investment will support our efforts to expand Pre-K services and, most importantly, provide opportunities to serve more students with disabilities at an earlier age. Early intervention and high-quality early learning experiences can make a tremendous difference in a child’s educational journey, and DES is honored to be part of this important work.
Another exciting event planned for this school year is the DES Grand Ball! The Grand Ball will be held over two evenings. Students in Pre-K through first grade will participate on one evening, followed by students in second through sixth grade on the second evening. Students will have the opportunity to invite their grandparents or guardians to join them for a special evening filled with dancing, laughter, fun and unforgettable memories. Portions of the proceeds from the event will support several school projects and initiatives, including water fountains for the playground and future student events.
At Davidson Elementary, we know that success looks different for every student. This year, we will be celebrating our students in a variety of ways, including attendance, Principal’s and Teacher’s Honor Rolls, proficiency and advanced performance on benchmark assessments and — perhaps most importantly — student growth.
We are excited to celebrate our students every step of the way. Here’s to a GREAT year at Davidson Elementary — one filled with learning, growing, celebrating and plenty of “Glows and Grows!”
