What a nice, refreshing rain we got Sunday afternoon. I know my knee stopped aching after the rain cooled things down for a bit.
Our neighbor, Lila Myrick, spent a couple of days in the hospital in Oxford with A-fib. They are going to try to treat Lila with medication. I hope that works for you. Lila’s back home and doing good.
Diane Dukes reports that George P. Cossar State Park had a great turnout for Dancing in the Park.
On Sept. 16, the park will have bingo from 2-4 p.m. for ages 55 and up. Please come join us. There will be a 20-30 minute break.
Ping Pong will be there to call the numbers and keep things interesting.
Please, everyone, get ready for the Fall Festival at George P. Cossar State Park. There will be so much going on. The second annual Motorcycle Show is also coming up Nov. 7.
Please come out and enjoy the park. Play a game of putt-putt, enjoy the scenery or have a picnic. There are a lot of events that will be going on at the park, one for each month left in the year.
Debbie and Tommy McCool visited their daughter Kimberly and Jason Beavers Sunday. They had a fish fry for Hannah’s birthday. Virginia and Sandy Beavers, Lil Gary and Donna Beavers were there, too. They had so much fun.
Jacque Chambers said they grilled out Saturday, Sept. 5. Their menu included hot dogs, hamburgers, smoked sausage, potato salad, baked beans and spinach dip. They got in the pool, and man, was it hot. Jacque said her eyelids were sweating! They had wonderful company, which included the Hughes from Oakland, the Martins from Coffeeville and the Hills from Grenada.
Our Sunday visitors were Brad, Frankie and Bradley Holliday, Donna Garripoli from Grenada and Timothy Sullivan. We had a good time visiting and enjoying each other’s company and Donna’s homemade chocolate pie.
Monday, David and I, your writer, visited with Waylon, Weir, Haven Rose and Waylon Jr. and watched them play nonstop for over an hour. I love my great-grands and enjoy watching them have a good time.
Celebrating September birthdays this month are sweet little Elena Young and Tommy Parker, who celebrated Sept. 1; Jack Bowman and Annette Ford, Sept. 2; Susan Howe, Sept. 3; and my grandson Waylon Dukes and Hannah Beavers, Sept. 5. Happy belated birthday to you all!
