Time Is A Precious Gift From God

I pray everyone had a good week and found themselves in the Lord’s favor.

The message Bro. Grant Coffey brought us this week was titled “One Less Sunrise.” Our Bible verse of focus was Psalm 90:12. “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Or in layman’s terms, “Use your time wisely.”

 Imagine your bank manager told you he was going to give you $86,400 every day. All yours for free. The only catch is that you have to spend it all. You can’t save it, roll any over from one day to the next, and if it isn’t spent, the remaining money will disappear. And the bank manager can stop the deposits at any time with no prior notice. How would you use that money?

We all get 86,400 seconds a day. How do we spend them? Watching TV? Playing video games? Staring at our phones? Engrossed in social media and what people had for lunch? We waste so much time on the distractions of the world and only give God whatever is left over. If we could only realize how valuable our time is, we would treat our days as precious as rare diamonds instead of throwing them away like a plastic fork in the bottom of a takeout bag. Our days are numbered. Each morning isn’t one MORE day. It’s one LESS. Our lives are on a timer and it’s counting down.

Our special music this week was “God Is in This Story,” sung by myself with Opal singing and playing accompaniment on the keyboard.

I want to let everyone know that I couldn’t do this article without the help of Leigh. She helps me write the news each week. I am so thankful for good friends.

My sweet grandson Brycen was elected Mr. 7th Grade. Way to go, Brycen! He is growing so fast.

We are wishing Emily lots of love and hope she is enjoying Ole Miss. These may be some of the best years of her young life.

We enjoyed seeing Noah back at church. His girlfriend, Kaitlin, was visiting from Texas as well. It is such a blessing to have young people in the congregation.

Cody came in from New Orleans this week. He is enjoying time with the family but will be heading back out for another 10-day stint.

Sam and Ryan Watts were in church  Sunday but will both be back out working soon as well. Most of our young men work outside on hot jobs. Keep all those who have to work in this heat in your prayers.

Chuck Arbuckle is back on the road in Louisiana, but we hope to have him and Ms. Kim back soon.

Garrett took all the kids back to the trampoline park, followed by swimming at Grant and Leigh Anne’s. If you haven’t been to the trampoline park, you should consider taking the kids or grandkids. It is a safe and secure location and they always have a great time.

Leigh went shopping with a friend in Memphis. They enjoyed a Saturday of thrifting and lunch.

Coyanna will be having surgery Oct. 12 as they continue with her testing.

We would like to send our condolences to Peggy Lebo on the death of her son Charlie. Charlie leaves behind a wife and five children. Prayers for the family in their loss.

Bro. Dave is still adjusting after losing his friend Sonia Coleman, but he is doing well.

Jonathan and I had a water leak in the main line at our house. Mr. Harry Womble came out to repair the problem. While he was there, he told us that he is having a procedure on Wednesday, and I am sure he would appreciate everyone saying a prayer for success and a quick recovery.

Leigh says this in closing: The devil is like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. His sole purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. Destroy Christian marriages, family, and friendships. He uses anything to complete his task. Pray for each other, stay repented up and keep going.
